ITINERARY
LE FORFAIT
1 – GATINEAU–LAVAL–MONTREAL–QUEBEC CITY–FREDERICTON (1 045 KM)
Departure from Gatineau, via Montreal or Quebec City, to New Brunswick via the Temiscouata valley. A stop in Saint-Jacques will make you discover the magnificent New Brunswick Botanical Garden. Head to Fredericton and settle at the hotel for one night.
2 – FREDERICTON–HALIFAX (505 KM)
Orientation Tour of the provincial Capital : the Parliament, the Christ Church Cathedral, the old rehabilitated military neighborhoods and the New Brunswick University. You can head to Hopewell Cape, in the Fundy Bay, where the erosion of icebergs combined with the world’s strongest and highest waves sculpted flower pots: a unique show. You will then go to Halifax and settle in a hotel for the next three nights. (Breakfast)
3 – HALIFAX : VISIT (90 KM)
Guided Tour of Halifax, provincial Capital and the biggest city of the Maritimes during which you will explore many sites, including : the provincial Parliament, public gardens, the port infrastructures and the national historical site of the Halifax Citadel. You will keep on discovering by doing an excursion into Peggy’s Cove, charming fishing village of the Atlantic coast where you will find a scenery like none other, where land and sea unite in the perfect symphony of the waves crashing into the shore. 4 – EXCURSION INTO THE ANNAPOLIS VALLEY (404 KM)
Retrace the french explorators’ path in Annapolis Royal and visit the national historical Fort Anne site, once a french bastion. During a guided tour, discover the Port-Royal Habitation, replica of one of the first europeans establishments in Canada. In the afternoon, visit the national historical Grand-Pré site where the Acadian Deportation took place along the american coast, towards Europe. There, see the statue of Evangeline, heroine of the Henry W. Longfellow poem. Return to Halifax. (Breakfast)
5 – HALIFAX–SYDNEY (456 KM)
Departure to the Cap-Breton Island. Go back to 1744 and, with a guide, visit the Fortress of Louisbourg which is the largest reconstructed 18th-century French fortified town in North America. More than 50 buildings have been reconstructed so you can explore while costumed characters reenact what it was like to live during the French regime. Settle at a hotel in Sydney for one night. 6 – SYDNEY–BADDECK (340 KM)
Departure to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, surrounded by the famous Cabot Trail. This spectacular route, boarding the clifs and rocky peaks of Cap-Breton offers exceptional panoramas which makes it one of Easthern Canada’s most impressive touristic sites. A few stops along the way will make you appreciate the local landscapes, including the picturesque Chéticamp village. In the afternoon, visit the Alexander-Graham Bell National Historical Site where you will find the biggest archive collection dedicated to the physicist and telephone inventor. 7 – BADDECK–CHARLOTTETOWN (297 KM)
Head to Caribou by crossing the Northumberland Strait until Woods Islands. (duration of 1h15) Reach Charlottetown and enjoy an orientation tour during which you will see, amongst others, the dock neighborhoods, the Victoria Park and the St. Dunstan Basilica. Stay in Charlottetown for one night. (Breakfast)
8 – CHARLOTTETOWN–MIRAMICHI (267 KM)
Discover Canada’s smallest province and the Prince Edward Island National Park. Make a pitstop in Cavendish, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Maritimes. Visit the Green Gables House, immortalized in the popular Anne of Green Gables novel. Crossing of the Confederation Bridge.In Bouctouche, visit the Pays de la Sagouine. This splendid site recreates the atmosphere of the early 20th century. Colorful characters will immerse you in their daily lives which inspired the literary work of Antonine Maillet. Settle at your hotel in Miramichi for the night. (Breakfast)
9 – MIRAMICHI–BATHURST (180 KM)
Head to Caraquet and visit the Village historique acadien. Actors in period costumes will tell you all about the lives of Acadians after the Grand-Pré Deportation. Authentic buildings, including a few dating back to 1770, will bring you back in time. Stay at a hotel in Bathurst for the night. (Breakfast)
10 – BATHURST–QUEBEC CITY–MONTREAL–LAVAL–GATINEAU (1 020 KM)
