Our Upper Canada Expedition is tailor-made for those passengers who want to experience the full beauty and history of the Thousand Islands. This is an excellent chance to witness opulent summer homes, scenic bays, and intimate island passages. Beginning in Kingston, the Canadian Empress cruises into the heart of the Thousand Islands and overnights at our very own River Anchorage. On day two, your tour will continue to explore the numerous island channels, before overnighting in the river port of Brockville. After a day-time excursion to Fort Wellington in Prescott, our tour will encounter the first lock in the St. Lawrence Seaway system in Iroquois. The control dam there stretches to both the Canadian and American sides of the river, and is responsible for regulating water depth through the Seaway to Montreal. From here, we will pass over the “sunken villages" of the Seaway enroute to historic Upper Canada Village where you will step back in time to the colonial history of the St. Lawrence River.

The M/V Canadian Empress is a grand ship with a warm and friendly personality. Her interior is designed in charming early heritage style...the furnishings, brass handrails and ornate metal ceilings recapture the grace of the early 1900’s. Combine this classic steamboat style with modern technology and you enjoy the conveniences and amenities expected by today’s travellers. All staterooms are above waterline and include daily maid service.

Your Canadian Empress crew are a special group of well trained, meticulously groomed people who do everything necessary to make your shipboard experience truly memorable. You will be treated to comedic, cultural or magical entertainment every night. On the longer cruises, one of the highlights is the evening of big band sounds and dancing. On other evenings, light professional and fun-loving entertainment will add just the right touch to your cruise experience.

Our passengers love the wholesome, generous and home-cooked meals, presented in our comfortable dining saloon. To make meal times even more pleasant, easy informality of unassigned seating is complemented by a menu that is announced in advance and that takes advantage of fresh in-season fruits and vegetables, including fresh bread collected from the pioneer oven at Upper Canada Village. Coffee, beverages and snacks are available 24 hours a day. We will do whatever we can to accommodate restricted diet requirements. However, our galley facilities are limited and we must be notified at the time of booking, and with enough time prior to boarding to make the appropriate meal arrangements
